Drag Me to the Hangover (?) Reviews

June 6, 2009 at 9:08 pm (FILM)

So I missed my post yesterday, but I decided to drive up to Dallas for a friend’s party so I got a little busy. But to make up for it, I am giving you two, count ’em TWO, movie reviews today!

So just to let you know- Sam Raimi directs this film. If you don’t know what that means, then I shall explain. Raimi doesn’t do the typical horror movie- he makes fun of them while he is making it. That sounds like it would be bad; however, he always manages to make it good.

So Drag Me to Hell is about Christine Brown, who is about to get everything she wants: a good promotion, has a great boyfriend and an all-around good life. So when she decides to reject a loan extension for a crazy, old woman, everything changes. She curses Christine and make her life hell (sorry for the pun but I had to!). Of course, her put-together boyfriend doesn’t believe in that nonsense, played by Justin Long, who is amazing again, a great comic relief!z

So Drag Me to Hell is fabulous- if you like Sam Raimi. Think Evil Dead but with Alison Lohman instead of Bruce Campbell. It is ridiculous, over-the-top, gross-you-out horror film, and if you are in the mood for that, this is top notch. If you are sick of the typical horror film, GO SEE THIS MOVIE. If you don’t like horror movies, you probably wont like this; just trying to be honest.

My Rating- B  Sam Raimi and his greatness. Sam, Sammy- please do movies like this instead of crap like Spider-man 3. Please!

So I have to say- The Hangover is HILARIOUS. I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more at things that no one should really be laughing at, but  I did it anyways. It is Old School but honestly, it’s funnier with a great cast of Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis (SO FUNNY- I feel like I was one of the only people that I knew who was excited to see him in this film, but trust me he delivers another hilarious performance) and Justin Bartha.

So the plot is again pretty well-laid out in the trailer. Four guys go to Vegas to celebrate Doug’s (Bartha) bachelor party.  They wake up the next morning missing a tooth, some clothing and Doug, but gaining a tiger, a chicken and somebody’s baby. Cooper, Helms and Galifianakis run around Vegas trying to find out what happened to them and to try and find Doug and the Baby’s Mama (but that is just a sidenote to them). Then, let the craziness insue.

This is funny. It is not appropriate in any sense of the world, but you will still laugh hard. It’s great. I don’t need to say any more.

My Rating: B+  Great comedy for anyone over the age of 18….and has a sense of humor.

So there you have it people!

COMING SOON: Hopefully I am going to see Land of the Lost and My Life in Ruins. Hopefully.
